Autumn sunsets

Dress: Anokhi (Birthday gift last year), Boots: Nine West, Bag: Vintage, Stone and shell jewellery: Gifts+All over

We had great weather over the weekend which meant going to the beach and playing with puppies at the rock pools till sunset. And warm weather (any weather really) calls for a soft cotton dresses and comfy boots. This dress is a one of my birthday gifts from my sister last year that I have been wearing non-stop for over a year and am not even remotely bored with it. Hope you all had a good weekend. Happy start of a new week!

Can't believe I haven't run out of block print cotton dresses yet!

Dress: Thrifted, Boots: India, Denim Jacket: Mango, Jewellery: All over

Last weekend I went to the Zoo, bushwalked, played on a various isolated beaches and baked on rocks...It was perfect except for the fact that I didn't much care to gawk at big cats behind a thick wall of glass. They were confined to little space and didn't look happy at all, I think this will be the last time I ever go to a zoo to look at animals, have to find another outlet for all animal crazy in me.

I wore my usual block print tunic, boots, carpet bag and a bunch of jewellery, had to add a jacket since its been getting cooler. Today is quite cold and rainy, stay home sip on cocoa and DIY kinda day. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Denim on crochet

Its finally cold enough to wear my Docs and thick denim shirt that I painstaking embroidered. When there is fun stuff to wear just popping by the closest super-market becomes fun. Hope everyone's having a peaceful week so far. Happy Wednesday!

Shubo Noboborsho

Dress: Gifted, Suede fringe sandals, Leather belt & Fabric and leather bag: India, Jeweller: All over

I don't understand why people shy away from yellow, its such a pretty colour and also I don't understand why people start dressing in various shades of dull-ness once the cooler months start. Not that its getting colder in Sydney, its been sunny but plesant here for the past few days and I love it. I know it won't stay this way for very long and that's why I am enjoying the last bits of sunshine before starting to dress in serious layers.

I hope to still look like myself not the Michelin man once the temperatures start to dip, its very hard though, I have the habit of wearing everything I own in an attempt to stay toasty. Hopefully spring has arrived for all the people who are tired of the cold up North and its getting warmer. I know I look like I am dressing more for spring than autumn but so far autumn in Sydney has just been beach weather so while the sun shines down I am going to be as summery as I want. The title of the post refers to the fact that today is the start of the New year for a lot of people who follow the Solar/ Hindu calender in South-East Asia, to everyone celebrating today, Happy New Year. Have a great start to the week.

Still obsessed with my DIY army bag

Dress: Anokhi, Bag: DIY, Boots: Vintage, Jacket+Jewellery: India+Sydney markets+All over

Another surprisingly sunny day, with a different block print dress from Anokhi as well as heaps of shells added to other assorted jewels and my latest favourite DIY bag plus the icing on the cake; a pretty kitty who followed us to a park and played with us all afternoon. If there is a better way to spend a day I don't know it!

Shapeless flowy cotton dresses are my favourite all year round, just add a pair of tights, thermals, a couple of jackets when its really cold and a bright beanie and its PERFECT to me. I constantly wish there were more of them in my wardrobe and then open it to see I have a tonne of them already and am still left wanting more. What can I say once I like something I decide to be loyal to it for the rest of my life. And now onto the bag, it goes with everything, there is not one thing in my closet that it looks bad with. How awesome is that? I almost hug it to sleep every night. Hope everyone's having a wonderful week. Happy Friday world!

Beautiful pictures

I am not going to say much, just let you enjoy a few pictures from all over but mostly from Gujarat, India. The place has the most exquisite range of textiles and jewellery and I can't wait to visit soon. I've spent half my life trying to dress like these women and failed miserably but I will never give up. Hope you love these images and find them as inspiring as I do.

Army bag I fell in love with and now can't stop wearing

So I've been wanting to post more about my DIY endeavours but when I have an idea I am generally too impatient to take pictures of the process and just want to get to the end result of whatever it is that I want. But for this particular DIY I was a little smarter and here is a DIY post where I am IN LOVE with the finished product.

Army surplus fabric bags are one of my most loved plus used and abused carry-alls but I don't like them looking like twenty thousand other people's, so over the years I've used patches and pins galore to make them more me. But for the past few months I've been itching to take the patchwork penchant to a whole new level of complicated embroidery. Now since I am super impatient I couldn't really do something that was very complicated, that would have taken longer, I quickly sewed all the colours I could find on a red piece of cotton fabric and then proceeded to sew the patch onto the bag. Here are a few pictures of the process, this is what I started with, a simple, non-descript fabric bag:

Hours of furious hand sewing...

Et Voila, a bag that is totally colourful, totally unlike anyone else's and totally me, I am soo happy I can't stop wearing it.

What are you favourite DIY beauties? I would like to look at some inspiration, once the DIY frenzy hits me its hard to stop but I am running out of ideas and this rainy weather is the best time to stay indoors making beautiful things.

Silk scarves make great shirts

Silk scrarf shirt+camisole: India, Crochet tunic: Vintage, Boots: Wittner, Bag: Africa, Jewellery: Sydney markets+all over

Just what I wear when lounging at home drinking and/or getting a few beers at the neighbourhood pub, layers of various fabrics that feel good against my skin, colourful stone jewellery, comfortable boots and a fun bag. Today I'd really like to talk about what a great collection of women I've met in my little blogging journey so far, they are all stylish, individualistic, fiercely feminist and incredibly supportive, it makes me all warm and fuzzy to interact with them here and on their blogs and its awesome when through them I meet more like minded awesome women. Thank you ladies, you make my world a little bit brighter and I wish I could meet all of your IRL soon. Happy Saturday world!
